AMBASSADOR HOTEL

The Ambassador Hotel, located in San Francisco's Tenderloin District, is a renovation/addition project sponsored by the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation (TNDC). The existing L-shaped masonry building was renovated and seismically rehabilitated to accommodate approximately 134 SRO units to house low-income and formerly homeless residents. The ground floor commercial spaces were upgraded to meet both current codes and historic standards, and the residential lobby was expanded and renovated with high security features. The new 4500sf residential support center will be built within the "L" of the building and houses community service offices, gathering spaces, a community kitchen, and a lounge. Open garden space with integrated seating, planting, community garden, and meditation space was created between the existing building and the new building.
